Oyo FRSC enlists 200 candidates as special marshals

Oyo State sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has enrolled not less than 200 candidates among those that applied for the Special Marshals membership.

Speaking at the opening training ceremony held recently at the Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele, Ibadan, the State Coordinator, Pastor John Adegbotoluwa, said the newly enlisted Special Marshals were selected for the Special Marshals services having been found worthy to be members, following a rigorous screening exercise held for over 1000 candidates that applied to join the sector.

According to the State Coordinator, the successful candidates, drawn from different local councils in the state, underwent one month intensive training exercise to familiarise them with the basic responsibilities and practice of the corps.

Adegbotoluwa added that the training was in accordance with the Special Marshals’ guidelines session, which says, “a comprehensive training/ induction programme shall be conducted for the successful candidates, using the training manual.”

In his remark, the Sector Commander RS11.3, Oyo Sector Command, Joshua Adekanye, said FRSC is saddled with the responsibility of creating a safe motoring environment and reducing road traffic crashes to the barest minimum.

Former Head of Service (HoS), Oyo State, Dr. Ebenezer Okebukola, who is also the overseer, Special Marshals in Nigeria, urged the newly enlisted candidates to digest the FRSC guidelines and comprehend the rules and regulations guiding the operations of the corps.
