Arsenal midfielder Partey withdraws from Ghana squad for Super Eagles friendly

Arsenal’s talented midfielder, Thomas Partey, has made the decision to withdraw from the Ghana national team set to clash with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly match scheduled for Friday.

Partey, who has not made an appearance for the Gunners this year due to ongoing recovery from an injury, continues to focus on his rehabilitation.

Having suffered a groin injury in November 2023 that necessitated surgical intervention, the 30-year-old’s anticipated return in early February was hindered by a setback related to the same injury.

Consequently, Partey’s participation in Premier League matches this season has been limited to a mere 276 minutes on the field.

Although the Black Stars had included the former Atletico Madrid midfielder in their squad for the forthcoming fixtures against Nigeria and Uganda, Partey has opted to excuse himself as he strives to attain full physical readiness.
