A 28-year-old travel content creator named Pelumi Nubi embarked on a solo road trip from London to Lagos in a Peugeot 107 with the aim of showcasing West Africa to the world.
Nubi highlighted the lack of representation of Nigerians in land travel from the UK and mentioned how her journey has inspired young women to take on challenges.
In Lagos, she expressed her joy at the warm reception she received and emphasized the significance of connecting her two homes, Lagos and London. The journey was not without its challenges, but the overwhelming support from her online community, which grew from 10,000 to over 200,000, kept her motivated.
Nubi’s father, Professor Nubi Gbenga, expressed gratitude for the journey’s success, attributing it to God’s blessings. He shared the anxiety he felt throughout the trip, especially when she was sleeping in her small car by the roadside in various locations.
After 68 days of driving, Nubi completed her journey and was welcomed at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by officials from the Lagos state government. Despite facing a crash during the trip, she persevered and successfully traveled through several countries before reaching Lagos.
The hero’s welcome she received in Lagos marked the end of an incredible journey that showcased the determination and spirit of adventure that Pelumi Nubi embodies.
