Popular Barbadian singer Rihanna has expressed her interest in a potential collaboration with Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist Ayra Starr.
It is well-known that Ayra Starr has been vocal about her admiration for Rihanna, whom she considers her role model.
“I have immense respect for Rihanna. She is my ultimate inspiration, my guiding light, my queen. Her ‘Anti’ album is timeless, and I constantly find new layers of meaning in it with each listen. It holds a special place in my heart.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the ‘Rush crooner’ shared Rihanna’s advice to her, stating, “Rihanna told me to always stay true to myself, to embrace my identity, and to be comfortable with who I am. She emphasized that it’s okay to follow what works for me and to let go of what doesn’t. I strive to embody authenticity in every situation.”
During a recent Fenty event, Rihanna hinted at the possibility of a musical collaboration with Ayra Starr. The two artists were captured engaging in a conversation on the black carpet.
Referring to Ayra Starr, Rihanna mentioned, “I’ve been hearing about you, my cousin was raving about a song she got from you. She was absolutely captivated by your music.”
Curious about Ayra Starr’s collaborations, Rihanna inquired, “Have you worked with Tems?”
Ayra Starr responded, “Tems is like a sister to me. We have collaborated on songs, although they have not been released yet. But they will be soon.”
Rihanna playfully suggested, “Do you have an extra verse for me? Give me a call.”
