Nigeria ends training of Pharmaceutical Technologists

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, marking a collaborative effort aimed at addressing concerns related to the training of Pharmaceutical Technologists in Polytechnics and other educational institutions across Nigeria.

The signing ceremony, held at the Headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education, highlights the dedication of all parties involved in addressing this critical issue.

The signing was overseen by Dr. Tanko Sununu, the Minister of State for Education. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, along with other Directors in the Ministry, were present at the event.

As per the MoU, both entities have mutually agreed to accredit and provide training exclusively for the National Diploma in Pharmacy Technicians. The Executive Secretary of NBTE and the Registrar/CEO of PCN expressed gratitude for the guidance and support of the Federal Ministry of Education in resolving this long-standing issue, spanning over two decades.

They emphasized that the accomplishment signifies the beginning of renewed hope under the current administration’s focused leadership within the Federal Ministries of Health and Education, marking a significant milestone for the nation.
