The organized labor union in Enugu State has expressed their deep appreciation for the remarkable efforts of Dr. Peter Mbah in enhancing the welfare of the people and workers in the state, hailing him as a true man of his word and the most supportive governor of workers in Nigeria.
They lauded Mbah for his array of policies, initiatives, and projects that are swiftly transforming the state for the better.
Governor Mbah, speaking through Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, reiterated his unwavering dedication to improving the well-being of the people and workers, emphasizing his commitment to not only providing immediate relief such as wage increases but also establishing sustainable systems and institutions to alleviate the financial burdens currently faced by workers.
The accolades for Mbah were conveyed by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman in the state, Comrade Ben Asogwa, and his counterpart from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Fabian Nwigbo, during the May Day celebration at Okpara Square, Enugu.
Comrade Nwigbo expressed profound gratitude to Governor Mbah for his worker-centric approach and policies, which have translated into significant benefits for the people of Enugu State, particularly the workers, throughout his tenure.
The workers highlighted several key achievements, including ongoing water projects aimed at ensuring access to clean drinking water, the ambitious plan to elevate the state’s economy from $.4.4bn to $30bn, the settlement of pension arrears, timely payment of wages, promotion of workers, establishment of smart schools, extensive road construction, and the development of the New Enugu City project.
Furthermore, they urged the Mbah administration to promptly address outstanding issues such as gratuity payments, pension arrears, training programs for workers, and support for the completion of the new labor secretariat.
Nwigbo encouraged workers to reciprocate the governor’s support by enhancing their productivity and maintaining discipline in their work.
Governor Mbah, represented by the Deputy Governor, expressed gratitude for the workers’ dedication and assured them that their concerns would be carefully considered.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating wealth, attracting investments, generating better-paying jobs, improving education through smart schools, enhancing transportation infrastructure, and providing accessible healthcare for all residents of Enugu State.
