The Lagos State Government has unveiled a new venture to collaborate with an international organization to create ICT opportunities for a million young individuals. The initiative was disclosed by Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, during the Ministerial Press Briefings at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Ikeja. This project, aimed at commemorating Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s first year of his second term, will cater to a vast number of youths. Ogunlende outlined the program’s structure, indicating its division into four cohorts, each offering a range of certificates, including specialized training in Artificial Intelligence. The commissioner highlighted the program’s inclusivity, targeting both formally educated and informally skilled youth. He stressed the importance of a united front in combating the rising issue of drug abuse among the youth, emphasizing the need for collective action. Ogunlende also discussed the state government’s efforts in addressing drug abuse through various initiatives such as drama, musical events, and training programs. Furthermore, he touched upon plans to streamline the adoption process by digitalizing it, aiming to expedite and simplify procedures for applicants.
