President Bola Tinubu emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies and the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in combating cybercrime, terrorism, and related offenses during his meeting with FBI Director, Christopher Asher Wray, at the State House in Abuja. Tinubu hailed the presence of Wray and his team in Nigeria as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two countries in fighting financial crimes and terrorism. He underscored the significance of cooperation in combating crimes locally and globally, emphasizing that the fight against criminal activities like terrorism and cybercrimes requires joint efforts. Tinubu also highlighted the importance of education in tackling poverty, a driving force behind criminal acts. He called on the United States to assist developing nations with technology and knowledge transfer to combat complex international crimes. Director Wray commended Tinubu for supporting partnerships between various government agencies and the FBI to safeguard citizens from threats like terrorism and cyber-enabled crimes. He pledged continued support in areas such as counter-terrorism, cybercrimes, kidnapping, joint investigations, and intelligence sharing, underscoring the vital relationship between the two countries.
