Trump vows to end wars, restore US power if elected again

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made a bold promise on Thursday to bring a definitive conclusion to the multitude of raging international crises currently affecting the globe. He vowed to restore American prestige and standing on the world stage, confidently asserting that he has the ability to “stop wars with a telephone call.” This assertion reflects his belief in a hands-on approach to diplomacy and global relations.

During his address at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, the former president painted a bleak and alarming picture of the world under the leadership of his successor, Joe Biden. Trump expressed that the planet is “teetering on the edge of World War III,” emphasizing his concerns about the escalating tensions and instability that he believes have developed during the current administration’s tenure.

“We will restore peace, stability, and harmony all throughout the world,” Trump stated emphatically, although he did not provide any specific details or concrete plans on how he might achieve these ambitious goals if elected once again. This lack of specifics did not deter him from making a strong statement about the future he envisions.

In Trump’s vision, he insists that “Under our leadership the United States will be respected again.” He expressed confidence that, under his administration, no nation would dare to question America’s power, nor would any enemy doubt its might. Furthermore, he claimed that “our borders will be totally secure,” stressing the importance of national security as part of his strategy to restore America’s standing globally.

As he addressed the audience, Trump placed the blame for ongoing conflicts around the world squarely on President Biden’s shoulders, asserting that even conflicts with historical roots extending long before Biden took office are linked to the current administration’s failures. “There is an international crisis the likes of which the world has seldom been part of… war is now raging in Europe, in the Middle East, a growing specter of conflict hangs over Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, and all of Asia,” he remarked, highlighting areas of geopolitical tension that he promises to address if he regains the presidency.

Trump made a bold vow to change the situation if he is once again elected to a second term in the White House. “I will end every single international crisis that the current administration has created, including the horrible war with Russia and Ukraine,” he declared. However, he added that “to achieve this future, we must first rescue our nation from failed and even incompetent leadership,” implicating the current administration in a broader narrative of national decline.

He also took the opportunity to express his desire for the release of Americans held captive abroad, issuing a stern warning. “The entire world, I tell you this: we want our hostages back and they better be back before I assume office or you will be paying a very big price,” Trump warned. His statement reiterated his tough approach to foreign policy, although he again failed to provide specifics on how such a situation would be handled.

Furthermore, Trump pledged to construct a version of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system for the United States, suggesting that this system could enhance American security. However, he appeared to overlook the fact that the Iron Dome is designed for short-range threats, which makes it ill-suited to defend against the intercontinental missiles that are the primary concern for national security.

In another noteworthy comment, Trump suggested that Kim Jong Un—the isolated North Korean dictator whom he had met face-to-face during his presidency, and whose nation has developed a significant nuclear arsenal—would be eager to see him return to the White House. “I get along with him; he’d like to see me back too. I think he misses me, if you want to know,” Trump said, indicating his belief that his personal rapport with the North Korean leader could play a crucial role in future diplomatic relations. Through these statements, Trump emphasized his assertive approach to foreign affairs and his commitment to regaining what he sees as America’s rightful position in the global arena.
