A Roswell police officer was shot and killed while responding to a call about a suspicious person behind the King Market shopping center.
The suspect opened fire almost immediately, striking the officer multiple times.
Other officers chased and arrested the shooter.
Authorities have not yet released the officer’s name.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp called it a “sudden and heartbreaking loss” and urged Georgians to honor law enforcement’s sacrifices.
The GBI is investigating—this marks their 12th officer-involved shooting probe of the year.
