They’re Setting Stage for 2027′ – Fani-Kayode Links Plateau Crisis to Political Plot, Urges Tough Measures

Former Minister of Aviation and prominent political figure, Femi Fani-Kayode, has raised alarm over the recent violence in Plateau State, alleging that the bloodshed is part of a calculated strategy to destabilize Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded statement on his X handle, Fani-Kayode called on the federal government to adopt what he described as a “Donald Trump-style approach” to tackle rising insecurity and political unrest. His comments come amid escalating attacks in Plateau, where suspected herdsmen and militia groups have been accused of carrying out deadly raids on communities.

Fani-Kayode claimed that unnamed political actors are exploiting ethnic and religious tensions in Plateau and other volatile regions to create chaos ahead of the next election cycle.

“What we are seeing in Plateau is not random violence; it is a deliberate plot to weaken the country and set the stage for 2027,” he said. “The same forces that have tried to undermine this government since 2015 are at it again, using insecurity as a weapon.”

The former minister urged President Tinubu administration to take inspiration from former U.S. President Donald Trump’s hardline policies, particularly in dealing with dissent and unrest.

“Trump did not tolerate attempts to destabilize America. He confronted threats head-on, whether from rioters or political enemies,” Fani-Kayode argued. “Nigeria needs that same firmness now—no more excuses, no more weakness.
