Eid-el-Fitr: Sokoto extends holiday to Friday

Sokoto state government has officially declared Friday, April 12 as a non-working day in order to give civil servants the opportunity to continue celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with their loved ones. The announcement, as communicated through a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, aims to ensure that state employees can fully partake in the festivities of the occasion with their families. Governor Ahmed Aliyu extends his warm wishes for a joyous and smooth Sallah celebration to all the residents of Sokoto State. It is worth noting that Katsina State Government has also announced a work-free day on the same date, April 12, 2024. This decision, revealed in a statement endorsed by the state governor, Dikko Radda, and disseminated by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, emphasizes the importance of granting additional time off to allow state workers to actively participate in the Sallah celebrations with their families. This development coincides with the Federal Government’s extension of the Eid-el-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, April 11, further enhancing the opportunity for people to engage in the festivities surrounding this significant occasion.
