The Federal Government has announced that the demolition of structures along the first three kilometers of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is scheduled to commence on Saturday, April 27.
During a press conference in Lagos, Mrs. Korede Keisha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, revealed this information. She specified that the structures to be demolished are those located within the designated right of way for the project.
Keisha encouraged property owners who have received demolition notices and have concerns to visit the secretariat of the Federal Ministry of Works between Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26, to address their issues.
In her statement, Keisha emphasized the importance of the press briefing in raising awareness among those affected by the project corridor. She mentioned that demolition notices have been issued to all properties within the right of way and urged them to engage with the ministry.
The Federal Controller highlighted that the secretariat is open for discussions from 3.00 pm today until tomorrow evening. She stressed that property owners within the zero to three-kilometer range of the project who have been marked for demolition should visit the secretariat promptly.
Keisha emphasized that the demolition squad will swing into action on Saturday morning, focusing on the first three kilometers of the highway. She reiterated that any structures within the right of way will be demolished during this phase.
She concluded by extending the invitation to all concerned parties who may not have received direct communication, ensuring that their issues will be addressed between today and tomorrow.
The Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, spanning 700 kilometers and connecting Lagos to Cross River through several coastal states, is estimated to cost N15 trillion for construction, with each kilometer costing N4 billion.
