The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Command in Kano State has made significant preparations by deploying a total of 3,400 personnel to ensure the security and safety of participants involved in the planned protests throughout the state. This substantial deployment reflects the command’s commitment to maintaining order and safety during a time when public demonstrations are expected to take place.
In a telephone interview conducted on Saturday, the State Commandant of the Corps, Mohammad Falala, provided essential details to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), outlining the extensive measures being put in place. He emphasized that the security personnel assigned to this effort would work diligently to ensure that safety and security are upheld before, during, and after the protests, which are anticipated to occur across various locations within the state.
Falala also mentioned that the command has implemented a series of measures specifically designed to facilitate residents’ ability to participate in the protests peacefully. Their aim is to ensure that individuals can express their opinions and grievances without facing any threats to their lives or damage to their property during the demonstrations.
In addition to these arrangements, he stated that the command is actively collaborating with other security agencies to create an environment conducive to a crisis-free protest not only within the city limits but also in surrounding areas. This cooperation is vital to maintaining peace and supporting public order during the events.
Falala elaborated that an operational order had been disseminated to Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. These directives focus on providing security at essential public venues, including markets, banks, places of worship such as churches and mosques, recreational centers, and motor parks. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure the safety of all citizens in these significant public spaces.
The commandant expressed his confidence in the ability of law enforcement to guarantee 100 percent safety for law-abiding residents, reinforcing that a sufficient number of security personnel has been strategically deployed to oversee the protection of the protesters during this time.
However, Falala was clear in his warning that any actions that might lead to confusion or unrest during the protest would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He reiterated that individuals who choose to disobey lawful orders would face arrest and prosecution. The overall message from the NSCDC Command in Kano State is focused on maintaining peace and security while allowing citizens to express their voices through protest in a manner that is safe for everyone involved.
