NNPC Foundation donates 10 CNG Buses to DAPPMAN Initiative

In a significant effort to promote clean energy solutions and provide affordable transportation options for the Nigerian populace, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Foundation has made a noteworthy contribution by donating 10 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to support the initiative of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN). This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve transportation systems while also addressing environmental concerns.

During a recent event to mark this donation, the Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, shared her enthusiasm regarding the foundation’s involvement in this important project. She articulated that this initiative aligns seamlessly with the foundation’s core focus areas, which include energy sustainability and environmental protection. By contributing to this initiative, the NNPC Foundation aims to play a vital role in enhancing the transportation sector in Nigeria.

Arukwe stated, “We committed 10 CNG buses to DAPPMAN which is what we have delivered today. We are excited to be part of this initiative. Although it is an NNPC initiative, for us in the foundation, we are truly dedicated to our area of focus, which is energy and the environment.” Her words underscored the collaborative nature of this project, emphasizing that the foundation’s commitment goes beyond mere participation; it reflects a deep-seated dedication to fostering sustainable practices within the energy sector.

Moreover, Arukwe highlighted the economic significance of the newly donated CNG buses, pointing out that fueling these buses is considerably more cost-effective compared to traditional fuels such as petrol or diesel. She explained that this shift to CNG not only promotes cleaner energy usage but also has the potential to lower transportation costs significantly.

She emphasized, “It’s very significant because, for example, filling those 10 buses will cost a little money. We know that CNG, apart from being clean, is much cheaper, because it is less expensive to fuel the vehicles. As a result, the overall price of transportation is going to be way down. So, for the public, this is the way to go.” This statement reflects the foundation’s belief that the adoption of CNG buses will ultimately lead to reduced transportation fares, which will greatly benefit the general public and contribute positively to the overall economy.

In summary, the donation of these CNG buses represents a strategic move towards embracing cleaner energy alternatives while also addressing the pressing need for affordable transportation solutions in Nigeria. Through this initiative, the NNPC Foundation hopes to set a precedent for future projects that prioritize both environmental sustainability and economic viability, ensuring that the benefits of clean energy are accessible to all Nigerians.
