Chelsea’s attacking midfielder, Cole Palmer, has officially signed a new contract extension that will keep him at Chelsea until the year 2033. This new agreement reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and their commitment to retaining his talents for the foreseeable future.
The 22-year-old forward from England, who made the switch to Chelsea from Manchester City on September 1 of the previous year, enjoyed an outstanding performance during the 2023-24 season. Throughout this time, he demonstrated his striking prowess by scoring a remarkable 22 goals, along with providing an impressive total of 33 goal contributions overall.
The latest developments also include a rather strange, yet intriguing incident where a 43-year-old man recounted his experience of how a ‘pregnant’ passenger ended up stealing his car while he was made unconscious—a story that has captured attention as it unfolds.
In addition to his goal-scoring feats, Palmer recorded a total of 25 goals, paired with 15 assists, across all competitions during his time on the pitch, tallying up to an impressive 45 appearances. His consistent performances have certainly made a notable mark at the club.
When Palmer transferred from Manchester City to Chelsea last summer, the initial fee was reported to be around £40 million, with potential add-ons amounting to an additional £2.5 million, contingent on his performance and achievements.
With this new contract, Palmer has effectively extended his previous agreement at Stamford Bridge by an additional two years, which serves as a significant acknowledgment and reward for what has been a stellar debut season with the team. His long-term commitment means he is now secured under a nine-year deal, complete with improved terms that reflect his growth and contributions to the club.
In recognition of his exceptional performance, Palmer has made it onto the shortlist for both the PFA Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year awards, which are set to be announced next week in Salford. Additionally, he has already clinched the title of Premier League Young Player of the Season for the 2023-24 campaign, highlighting his remarkable rise in the football world.
As Chelsea prepares for the upcoming season, they are set to face off against Manchester City on the opening day of the Premier League, scheduled for Sunday, marking an exciting start to the new season for both the team and their fans.
